he global recession that has caused airports to resort to personnel layoffs and wage/hiring freezes also has given rise to creative thinking that is paying off in financial and operational terms. In a time of shrinking enplanements, it may sound like a sensible idea to cut back or defer maintenance as a short-term, cost saving measure.
